We’re on to the (presumably) dirt-loving 2-year-old fillies, many of whom will be making their debut on the surface:
| PP | Horse | Jockey | Trainer | ML |
| #1 | Indian Gracey | Rafael Bejarano | Jerry Hollendorfer | 15-1 |
| Never out of the money so far, but her only wins have been against lesser company (and on synthetic tracks). Edit: Out with a foot problem. | ||||
| #2 | Theyskens’ Theory | Frankie Dettori | Brian Meehan | 10-1 |
| Interesting to see the European-trained filly on dirt instead of turf, but her pedigree says she should enjoy it. She has a Group 3 win and was a very close third in her last effort. | ||||
| #3 | R Heat Lightning | John Velazquez | Todd Pletcher | 4-1 |
| First or second in each of her starts; finished just behind A Z Warrior in the Frizette in her last effort. | ||||
| #4 | Awesome Feather | Jeffrey Sanchez | Stanley Gold | 6-1 |
| Unbeaten in five lifetime starts, but this is her first race beyond Florida. | ||||
| #5 | Harlan’s Ruby | Julien Leparoux | Kenny McPeek | 15-1 |
| Finished second in the Alcibiades; has tried dirt, turf and synthetics, with her one win thus far on dirt. | ||||
| #6 | Joyful Victory | Ramon Dominguez | Anthony Dutrow | 15-1 |
| Third in the Frizette, but only has two starts; difficult to know her capabilities. | ||||
| #7 | Izshelegal | Mike Smith | Terry Knight | 30-1 |
| Has yet to record a win, but perhaps she will prefer real dirt to the synthetics she’s been on so far? | ||||
| #8 | A Z Warrior | Martin Garcia | Bob Baffert | 7-2 |
| Frizette winner seems to be coming into her own; will she get Bode Baffert into the winner’s circle? | ||||
| #9 | Delightful Mary | Shaun Bridgmohan | Mark Casse | 8-1 |
| Has yet to try real dirt, but I thought her sire, Limehouse, was underrated; definite potential here. | ||||
| #10 | Believe in A. P. | Garrett Gomez | Richard Dutrow | 15-1 |
| Her sole win came in a maiden special weight on her fourth try. | ||||
| #11 | Soundwave | Robby Albarado | Ronny Werner | 20-1 |
| Comes into this race off a three-race winning streak, but it’s quite a step up in class. | ||||
| #12 | Tell a Kelly | Calvin Borel | John Sadler | 9-2 |
| Debutante winner tries dirt for the first time. | ||||
| #13 | Jordy Y | Joel Rosario | Wayne Catalano | 30-1 |
| Never worse than third, but is another one trying dirt for the first time. | ||||
Predictions: I confess to not having a strong feeling for any in this race at this point, but I’m leaning toward a Theyskens’ Theory/Awesome Feather/Delightful Mary trifecta.
