Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf

Next up, it’s the 2-year-old fillies on the turf – another good chance for European success, but will the North Americans prevail?  If something close to the morning line odds hangs on, there is some definite value in this race.

PP Horse Jockey Trainer ML
#1 Dos Lunas Jon Court John Glenney 30-1
Has a win at Churchill Downs – but it was in a maiden special weight and she hasn’t been back to the winner’s circle since. Finished well back last time on Polytrack.
#2 Tale Untold Ryan Moore Richard Hannon 15-1
European-based filly was very unlucky not to win her last two races.
#3 Quiet Oasis (IRE) Frankie Dettori Brian Meehan 8-1
Beautifully-bred though lightly raced, the addition of Frankie Dettori makes her very attractive at 8-1; one doubts she’ll stay there.
#4 Kathmanblu Julien Leparoux Kenny McPeek 10-1
A winner on dirt and turf thus far and out of a Devil’s Bag mare; interesting indeed.
#5 Forest Legend Ramon Dominguez Vicki Oliver 30-1
Only two starts to her credit, but one of them was a win; fourth (but not terribly far back) in the Alcibiades after that.
#6 Arch Support Edgar Prado Gary Contessa 20-1
Was second behind Winter Memories in their last race – though it wasn’t a close one.
#7 Winter Memories Jose Lezcano James Toner 2-1
Telegenic grey filly has only won so far in her brief career.
#8 Wyomia Rafael Bejarano Daniel Vella 12-1
Has two wins from her three starts (on Polytrack) – will her good recent form translate directly to turf? She was fifth behind New Normal in her one start on grass.
#9 Fancy Point Kent Desormeaux William Phipps 15-1
Beat Kathmanblu in September, but was third behind Winter Memories and Arch Support in the Miss Grillo.
#10 New Normal Javier Castellano Mark Frostad 10-1
Won the Natalma Stakes in her last start; looks to be a threat.
#11 More Than Real Garrett Gomez Todd Pletcher 10-1
A not-too-distant second in the Natalma Stakes; would a victory for owner Bobby Flay get everyone free food at one of his restaurants?
#12 Flood Plain William Buick John Gosden 20-1
Trainer Gosden has a lock on the male version of this race; has finished well in large fields in her only two starts (one of them a win).
#13 Together (IRE) John Murtagh Aidan O’Brien 5-1
Filly by Galileo has lots of experience and a Group 3 win to her name; has been close every time, and certainly looks the part for this race.
#14 Allure d’Amour John Velazquez Todd Pletcher 15-1
Lovely turf pedigree and some good results thus far, but has yet to take on top-level competition – but that would not rule her out.
AE Nina Fever Robbie Albarado Wesley Ward 30-1
Trainer Ward has a way with turf juveniles; although she’s unlikely to make the field, she has some good experience.

Predictions: Together looks very strong here, and she could get to the front just ahead of Quiet Oasis and Tale Untold; Winter Memories should put in a good performance as well, and a blanket finish would not be unexpected.
