Well, I did say I was looking forward to Second of June, right? And I semi-called Pomeroy (right)…if only I’d bet on them. I admit I would not have come up with Premium Tap to win the Woodward, but I was pleased to see Second of June get up there for second. Funny Cide seemed to just drop out of it about halfway through, and Flower Alley never seemed to fire at all — he seems to have forgotten what it’s all about. I still wonder if he just hasn’t raced enough this year.

Pomerory looked good in the Forego, although Commentator did have an excuse with his poor start. I’ve always felt we haven’t seen the best of Pomeroy, so it’s nice to see him get up for a G1 win.

They ran some two-year-olds at The Spa as well…although frankly I don’t get too excited about them at this point. There was more bad luck for Brother Derek in the El Cajon — he finished a good way behind victor Cindago, Bob & John, Da Stoops, etc…clearly he’s not back to his usual self either.

In other news, Tom Durkin won’t be calling the Breeders’ Cup this year due to contractual obligations — although why this has only recently become an issue is a bit of a question mark. No replacement has been named yet.

Lost in the Fog will begin experimental chemotherapy as his previous treatment had little effect on his tumors. His prognosis hasn’t improved as yet. Apparently he is still comfortable, so it’s worth trying.
