While there are many column inches being spilled (and rightly so, it’s an interesting story) on Casino Drive, my pick for the Peter Pan (and the Belmont) is still Tomcito. We will see both horses in action tomorrow in the Peter Pan. I think that Tomcito (pictured) has had some [...] The good news is that the NTRA is taking what happened to Eight Belles in the Derby very seriously; president and CEO Alex Waldrop has a blog entry musing about how we can make racing safer (and he invites comments and suggestions). I’ve weighed in with quite a few already, and Green but [...] Big Brown’s victory is rather muted in light of the fate of Eight Belles (I feel a bit guilty about cashing our across the board ticket on her); it’s hard to cheer for Rick Dutrow in any case, but especially under these circumstances. At least she got to prove she was head and shoulders [...] While it’s Derby Works a Go-Go at the moment for the 3-year-olds, there’s plenty of actual racing action going on beyond that sphere. In the ‘comeback’ column, first noted at Brooklyn Backstretch, 2005 Preakness runner-up/tripper Scrappy T recently raced at Penn National, getting up for only fourth place in allowance company at Penn [...] |
